Our Grading System

Accreditation
Emarid College is managed by a team of seasoned professionals and has approval from both the State, Federal Government to conduct Junior School Certificate Examination at the junior level as well as National Examination Council (NECO) and West African Examination Council (WAEC) at the senior level.
 
Academic system
The Academic System is divided into two section: Junior and Senior Secondary School. The Junior Secondary School consists of students from JSS1 to JSS3 between the ages of 10 – 13 years. Students in this division offer subjects such as,
•    English Language
•    Mathematics
•    Basic Science
•    Basic Technology
•    Business Studies
•    Computer Studies/ Information and Communication Technology
•    Social Studies
•    Civic Education
•    Cultural and Creative Arts
•    Christian Religious Studies
•    Agricultural Science
•    Home Economics
•    French
•    Physical and Health Education

This is to enable them chose their career path at the senior school level. The Senior School Students have a choice to specialize in any of the three major areas of study offered, namely,
1. Sciences
2. Art
3. Commercial.

However, despite their area of specialization, they have a list of Compulsory subjects as prescribed by the governing bodies. These subjects include:

Other subjects are

•    Further Mathematics
•    Technical Drawing

A student spends three years in the Junior Secondary School and three years in the Senior Secondary School and sits for the Senior School Certificate Examinations in the final year (WAEC & NECO).
 
Grading System
The grading system for both Junior and Senior Schools are different. The Junior School is graded according to NECO standard
•    80 – 100 – A (Alpha)
•    60 – 79 – C (Credit)
•    50 – 59 – P (Pass)
•    0 – 49 –F (Fail)

While the Senior School is graded according to the West African Examinations Council prescription.
•    75 – 100 – A1
•    70 – 74 – B2
•    65 – 69 – B3
•    60 – 64 – C4
•    50 – 54 – C6
•    55 – 59 – C5
•    45 – 49 – D7
•    0 – 39 – F9
•    40 – 44 – E8
